Jennifer Hughes (Mezzo Soprano)

Jennifer is in her in final year at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, where she studies voice with Edith Forrest and Trudi Carberry. She enjoys all aspects of singing and is an active member of the DIT Chamber Choir, and a chorister in St. Ann’s Church, Dawson Street.

For the last three summers she was awarded a Yorke Trust Opera Course scholarship to study operatic production in Norfolk, UK. In 2008 she understudied the part of Didymus in their production of Handel’s 'Theodora'.

Other achievements include the role of third Geni in the Conservatory’s production of Mozart’s 'The Magic Flute' in October 2008, and second prize in the Mezzo Soprano Solo competition at the Feis in 2009. In May 2009 she undertook the alto solo in Murray Wylie’s contemporary oratorio 'The Jerusalem Passion' . Jennifer is in regular demand as a soloist at weddings, and has performed solos from Bach’s Magnificat and Handel’s Messiah at Church festivals.
