Marian McRory


Marian McRory After graduating from UCD Marian McRory was active as a secondary school teacher. She obtained her MEd with the Department of Higher Education and Educational Research in Trinity College. She has also been involved in the setting up of two outreach programmes for the Royal Irish Academy of Music where she was responsible for piano teaching and the setting up of theory examinations. She has taught at DIT since 1989 and during her time there has been co-ordinator of Adult musicianship in addition to her duties as a piano lecturer.

In addition, she has been course tutor in Musicianship and been responsible for many developments in teaching and learning in that department. Marian is also a member of the Forum for Music Education in Ireland and the Feis Ceoil.

She currently lectures on the Philosophy of Music Education on the BMus degree. Her main areas of interests are music education (member of British Journal of Music Ed) and Adult Education (member of AONTAS).

She is also an examiner for Royal Irish Academy of Music Practical Examinations. As a member of the Dublin Orchestral Players she has played in many concerts in various venues including the National Concert Hall, Trinity College and Royal Hospital, Kilmainham.
