Dr Julie Maisel


‌Dr Julie Maisel received her Doctor of Music and Master of Music in Music Performance from Florida State University, and her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi.  Since 2005 she has been a lecturer in flute performance at the Conservatory of Music and Drama at Dublin Institute of Technology. She also teaches flute at Leeson Park School of Music as well as maintaining a private studio in Chapelizod.  She is active with the Young Orchestral Pops (YOPS) and has taught flute in the Walton's New School of Music and Newpark Music Centre, Blackrock.  Dr Maisel is a member of 'Kid's Classics' an ensemble which performs in the Children's Hospitals in Dublin every month and, is involved with the Learn and Explore Programme through the National Concert Hall where she has presented music workshops with teams of musicians throughout Ireland.  She is an adjudicator for the 'Interschools Music Festival' at Wesley College, and for the last seven years has performed in the Five Lamps Arts Festival.  Dr Maisel is the founder and a member of Flute Éire, a professional flute choir based in Dublin.  In August 2013 this group performed at the annual National Flute Association Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana where she also served on a panel for Flute Ensemble Programming, Spicing it up in New Orleans.

While living in the United States, Dr Maisel was an active soloist and chamber musician performing throughout the Southern States.  In Dublin, she continues to be active as a soloist and chamber musician and has presented numerous recitals in DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama and in 2010 performed with pianist, Colman Pearce in the John Field Room of the National Concert Hall.  As a freelance musician, Dr Maisel has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Pro Arte Orchestra, the Opera Theatre Company, the Irish Film Orchestra, the Dublin Sound Lab, and various musical productions throughout the area.  As a Baroque flutist, she has also performed with the Irish Baroque Orchestra.
