Music Open Day at DIT Conservatory of Music & Drama

Music Open Day at DIT Conservatory of Music & Drama

Date:   Saturday 2 March 2013
Time:   11.00am to 3.00pm
Venue: DIT Chatham Row, Dublin 2

A Music Open Day with a difference will be hosted by DIT’s Conservatory of Music and Drama on Saturday 2 March 2013 from 11.00am to 3.00pm.  Budding musicians, singers, or those who simply want to learn how to appreciate music should make their way to DIT Chatham Row, Dublin 2.

This is an ideal opportunity for parents, teachers, and prospective junior students to discover the many junior and part-time study options available at the Conservatory of Music and Drama at DIT.

During the day, parents and children will have an opportunity to ‘try out’ a range of instruments, in order to see, hear and feel the instrument they wish to learn to play.  Expert tutors will be on hand to demonstrate the instruments and to answer any questions that parents and students might have. So whether you want to find out what's the best age for your child to start music lessons, or which instrument would suit you, DIT staff will be delighted to help you with any questions that you might have.

In addition, throughout the day visitors will be treated to individual and ensemble performances by current Conservatory students of all ages.

The Conservatory offers a great range of learning opportunities at its Junior Conservatory: the Kids' Club is open to children as young as three, while the Music Workshop caters for five to seven year olds. Seven to eleven year olds interested in learning how to play a wind instrument may start in the Recorder Class Applications for study at the Junior Conservatory and adult part time study for the 2013-14 Academic year are now open.

With a tradition stretching back over a hundred years, DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama has produced many of Ireland’s finest musicians and actors. Graduates of the Conservatory have followed careers in classical, jazz and traditional music performance, music education, music technology, composition, the dramatic arts and the other cultural industries. Staff, many of whom are internationally recognised performers, encourage their students at every level to achieve the highest artistic and intellectual standards
