MUSICIANSHIP EXAMINATIONS

Receipt of exam entries for Grades 1 – 8 musicianship will commence on Monday 13 March and will close on Friday 7 April 2017.
Please note: It is not necessary for students in Initial Grade and Primary Grade Musicianship to submit an examination entry.

WRITTEN EXAMS

Grades 1 – 3

Written exams take place during normal class time in the week Tuesday 2 May – Saturday 6 May 2017.

**Please note: If your child is unable to attend his/her normal class time during that week, he/she can sit the exam with another class.
Please contact Dr Julie Maisel (julie.maisel@dit.ie) by Friday 28 April to make alternative arrangements.

Grades 4 – 8

Written exams take place on Saturday 6 May 2017 in the DIT Kevin Street, Dublin 8.

Grade 4: 12.15 – 13.45 (1.5 hours)
Grade 5: 12.15 – 14.45 (2.5 hours)
Grade 6: 09.00 – 11.30 (2.5 hours)
Grade 7: 09.00 – 12.00 (3 hours)
Grade 8: 09.00 – 12.00 (3 hours)

** Please note: If the student is unable to attend the above main exam session, an alternative sitting will take place on Tuesday 9 May beginning at 18.00 in DIT Conservatory, Rathmines.
There is a €25 entry fee for this alternative grade exam session.
Please contact Mary Grant (mary.grant@dit.ie) by Friday 28 April to arrange attendance at this exam sitting and to pay the exam entry fee.

AURAL EXAMS

Initial Grade, Primary Grade and Grades 1 – 3
This assessment period begins during the week Monday 15 May and normally takes place in regular class time. It takes the form of a one-to-one session with the class teacher. The class teacher will assign an individual time for each student and the student attends only during this time.

Please note: In the case of bigger classes, the assessment period may begin in the week beginning Monday 8 MayYou will be informed by the class teacher.

Grades 4 – 8
Aural exams for Grades 4 – 8 take the form of a written paper together with a short one-to-one oral component. These assessments take place in normal class time during the week Monday 15 May – Saturday 20 May.
